De Oppresso Liber

Sunday, 01 November 2009 12:25 Written by Administrator

I wrote this ditty some time back and it still applies today...

This week I am updating my blog from my hotel in West Virginia. After an intense work week supporting a new client in the Washington DC area, I am taking a leisurely couple of days to visit my sister and a side of the family I have not seen in person for over 16 years. It really doesn’t seem that long, but for what ever reason we never had an opportunity as today!

I titled this week De Oppresso liber (to free from oppression). I chose this title because it represents a part of my personal history that I have shielded for the most part in secrecy for the past 30 years. Two Brains
What do Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci and Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni commonly known as Michelangelo have in common besides being two of the worlds most brilliant people? Leonardo was Italian polymath: scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, and writer. Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet and engineer.

The answer is they used both sides of their brains! As if by magic these two men could turn on or off one side or the other, but in reality they used their full brain. Now this is not to say we mir mortals don’t use are brains. There have been many medical research studies that show we as a whole don’t. Why? Well it goes back to the birds and bees. You were born based on the genetics of your parent’s as we all are. Depending on your gender that is a boy or a girl determined what side of your brain you would normally use.

I have learned that you don’t have to be a road warrior to have the same problems. But living out of a suit case makes you really appreciate how good home feels when you arrive. Your personal sanctuary where you can hide and restore your energy.

This little life challenge came to me this past week. After a busy road trip, one of several on my schedule for the month, I found my self exhausted. I took 5 naps the next day and accomplished almost nothing except eat and sleep.
