Time off

As you may have noticed over the past several months it has been all quiet on the site. I have been on a self imposed hiatus. First taking some vacation and then attending the EMC World 2008 conference in Las Vegas.

During my time off I have been recharging my batteries. I visited with my grandson and family in Portland, spent a good portion of time driving 3000+ miles. Fortunately I was able to do all this before the price of oil jumped over the $110 and so the gas prices were still within spendable limits for such a long trip.

Staying the Course with lists

How many projects have you started and not finished? How many resolutions have you made? At the beginning of every year the majority of people think back to their previous lives and say I am going to do this or that this year. Maybe its quit smoking or loosing weight! Or I am going to start that saving account this year, etc.

The trouble with making resolutions or stating I am going to do something is the long term outcome is more difficult then it may be imagined. So what is the alternative? For me I have learned its about staying the course. As my father once told me, anything worth doing takes time and patients. The rest will fall in to place when its ready.

Every once in a while I visit Dilbert and get a blast of Scott Adams wacky hummer. What’s really wonderful about Scott’s comic strip is just how real it is! Or should I say how much truth is behind his characters. From Dilbert, to Dogbert they all have a message! It is a dose of reality on the comic side of life. But there is more to Scott Adams then just his comic strip. There is a serious and sensible side too. To find this you need to read Scott’s blog. He discusses a diverse list of subjects and I have to agree that most of what he writes about does make sense.
